Livo's recent statement that :
The good old fashioned Aussie sausage curry is one of the worlds best comfort foods.

A four-pack of Stella with two packets of Pickled Onion Monster Munch.

Barring that, oatcakes with butter, blue cheese and onion relish or sweet chilli sauce  :)

if you're talking meals, sausage and bean supper (sausages, beans, carrots and lots of chilli powder!), or my childhood favourite smoked haddock with mash and white sauce (make a roux from the milk you cook the haddock in, dash of salt and pepper, and thicken with cornflour, pour over the mashed potatoes - delish!)

for snacks, can't beat a nice selection of strong and smelly cheeses and biscuits; www.damnfinecheese.co.uk (http://www.damnfinecheese.co.uk) do some lovely cheddars with a twist... or as Garp suggests I'd settle for a big bottle of Thatchers Gold with some Roast Beef Monster Munch ;)

Now that is comfort food, and again something I have only eaten once in many, many years and even that was about 3 years ago.  I'll have to add that to the "to do" list.  It used to be a regular along with sausage curry when I was a kid.

I do still regularly hot smoke my own catch sometimes and it's not bad either.
