God help us , the Reaper is between 1.5-2.2 million SHU :'( :'( :'(

Extremely jealous of those reapers!! been trying to get them online but to no avail!!
Where did they come from exactly??
I just got a batch of dorset naga's! would love to know how they compare. have u tasted the reapers before?
Regards
Barry

No never tasted them before, my mate got them from a food festival in Beverley . Its gonna be one hell of a hot curry night!!!
-
Ohhh Dear :-\ That's looking to be a nasty night ;D
-
My God - be careful. Human lives are at stake. :)
-
Also recommend going very easy with the Reaper Andy. I've got a supply of Scorpion Butch T (dried flake). Got a local TA chef to put a pinch in a naan bread he made for me once. Panic attack strength mate, honest! It is a key ingredient for naga viper ex-hots though. Ghost pepper tones it down to acceptable levels. Good luck!

A & E is always busy on a Friday 8)
The Nagas look lush, 1 per curry should be fine.
But wash your hands before you go to the toilet ;)
Chewy :)

MA - Funny, I also seem to remember Carolina Reaper haunting some other forum ::) - but then could just be my imagination 8)

Concealed security cameras installed in 1000 public toilets in California by a research team based at the Leland Stanford Junior University, Palo Alto, revealed that whilst 90% of men wash their hands after urinating if others are present in the toilet as they are leaving, this number drops to only 10% when they are alone; for those making use of the W.C., that percentage rises to almost 70% (thank God !) ...

How are the Reapers compaared to Scotch bonnets. I have lots of bonnets to use:)
Are the reapers hotter?
-
Scotch bonnets 100,000
-
A couple of extra squirts of lemon and a tad more salt - take it steady!
Great to see fantastic Chillies being produced in Yorkshire

I used to make and bottle Naga Sauce up for the Bar, back in the nineties.
As you always got the clever drunk who could eat the hottest curry or sauce on the planet.
Used to be amused when they stopped bragging and made an excuse to exit.
Also used to keep a bottle of Grappa for the same type of drunk, it used to finish them off nicely.
Happy Days ;D
Anyhoo, MA. I wouldn't eat either raw

Also just been given a Trinidad Scorpion , have some nice mild choc habanero to start the night off ;D

What can I say ? The reaper lives up to its name, it is so hot, so intense, it burns for a good 30 minutes, the back of your throat is on fire, your eyes glaze, you become unstable, sweat comes out of every pore on your face, you wish it would end, but god when the burn subsides your hit with a euphoric state that makes it all worth while, you sink into the settee in a opiatic state. Amazing chillis but also quite frightening :o
-
;)
Tell that bit about euphoria to your bottom in the morning. Hope it was worth it MA.

The 10 chillis we tried -

L-R top - Bishops Crown, Red Jalapeno, Bullit, Finger, Scotch Bonnet
L-R bot - Choc Habanero, Green Bhut Jolokia, Red Bhut Jolokia, Trinidad Scorpion, The Reaper
(http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/imagehost/pics/4723a164bf5223403292aca08b56f368.JPG)
Bishops and Jalapeno were mild , a little kick off them, nothing much really.
The Bullet and Finger chillis were nice and hot as you would expect, about the hottest you want to go really for eating raw.
The Scotch Bonnet was a dud, tasty but no heat at all
The Choc Habanero was very hot, too hot to eat a full one! But it is very tasty, I always use this or a Scotch in my pasta sauce.
Green Bhut Jolokia , wow hot , instant heat burn of the tongue, very nice though , the burn lasted 5 mins
Red Bhut Jolokia , slightly hotter than green, instant intense tongue and back of throat burn, again lasted for about 5 mins, would work really well in Mexican dishes.
Trinidad Scorpion, definately more intense than the Jolokias, the tip of the tongue and lips were really burning, struggled with this one, very intense, 10 minute burn, tasty chilli though
THE REAPER !!,Started of ok , thought it was a dud, then it began a slow rising volcano of heat that was relentless, the back of the throat was on fire, frozen yoghurt did not help at all, the heat kept rising, sweat covered my face and head, all you think is this every going to stop, 15 minutes of hell :'(, amazing that a chilli can do this to you, while the burn was there you didnt know what to do with yourself, couldnt stand still, couldnt talk, hard to explain, but once the heat began to fade euphoria began, an opiatic state of mind took over and it all became worth while ;)
So much so that we tried the super hots again half hour later, I think the after affects could become addictive
We then made a curry here (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,13348.msg111940.html#msg111940)
Very good night , great experience, a little scary at one point with the Reaper heat constantly building but enjoyable all the same.
Feel a little groggy today, not in an alcohol related way, more of a trance like state .
Cant wait to go to toilet though ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nice report,Andy, a good read.
We really do need to get all you chilli-heads together for a contest (on video of course).
I nominate, yourself, Andy, CH and Lou as the ones who like it hot. Need one more though. Any volunteers?
-
Great idea Garp, and it would be funny watching anybody eat a Carolina Reaper.
I really wished I had videoed last night, it was funny looking back at the night, while eating the reaper you go a nice red colour, sweat profusely and your eyes become very glazed to the point of looking like youve been sat for too long in an Amsterdam coffee bar! I couldnt stand still I was jigging around the kitchen as the heat grew and grew , this guy here sums it up nicely haha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJBab0HDAVQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJBab0HDAVQ)
-
Hahaha. great video. Those poor guys! lol
::)

-
