Today's the day, I shall be cooking for 12 guests tonight as a farewell treat for my sister-in-law before she goes to the land of pissy lager and poor curries. ;D
I made a batch of Jb base yesterday, chicken has been marinated, I think all shopping has been done. All prep work to be done this morning and then 12 curries , large pot of rice, nan breads , poppidoms etc to be cooked this afternoon!! All while keeping my 5 year old daughter happy :P
I have never cooked for 12 before so it should be fun, stressful, and hopefully I will enjoy and learn from it

Hope it goes well for you, more importantly I hope my base stands up to the job! Very brave cooking for 12,I've done something similar and it is very hard work, especially when you have(like myself) a five year old to contend with(and a one year old now)...good luck!!!
-
Sounds great Andy and wishing you good luck for all your prepping and cooking!
Also know how hard a job this is especially with a little one to watch over, have fun and remember the end goal is to enjoy the evening ;D

Is she going to Scotland ??????. Why not get the folks to cook their own naans. When I did my last night at work, I had took the orders and made them into foil cartons which nicely warmed through in the oven and were served TA style. I then just did a couple of wok (biggest fry pan i had) fulls of onion pilau. Every one was impressed except me of course who could pick fault with everything. ( I should have done this, I should have done that etc etc) Anyway I hope it goes well for you and you ziggycat and don't forget some photos cos I did in the heat of battle.
-
Good luck ziggy, I defo think 14l of base will be enough :) Have you got 2 hungrier guests who like more naans! Hope it goes well .
I am only using chicken (guests preferred meat when asked) which has all been tikka'd, I am doing Bhuna, Madras, a standard curry (CT), Jhalfrezi and a cheeky little naga naga friday night special for the brave one (was he only brave while drunk though), Pilau rice, garlic naans, chilli naans, poppodoms, mint sauce , onion salad, mango chutney, lime pickle, and beer.
Really looking forward to it all

Well what a great day/night, even if we were let down by 4 guests!! I really enjoyed making 8 individual curries, its great when all the prepped ingredients are out and your just cooking curry after curry, there was mess everywhere.
I made 2 Madras(mine), 2 Bhuna(976bar), 2 Medium Curry(Chewy), 2 Naga Masalla(mine), Pilau Rice, 4 Garlic Naans, 20 Poppodoms with onion salad, yoghurt mint sauce, naga pickle, mixed pickle and mango chutney.
I served all the curries in foil take away containers (cheers for that G.I) which was a great way to do it, easily warmed in the oven.
No food was left though Im afraid :'(, which is actually an excellent result, but my hangover is craving curry!!! and I am no way cooking today. I got some amazing comments about the curries which makes all the hard work worth while, cant wait to do a big cook again.
Cheers for all your help guys :)
P.S I took a few photos along the way (when I remembered too), I'll post up later
