I was given this recipe years ago Kadi patta or Curry leaf powder
Its a good way to use up Curry leaves
A good handful curry leaves
1 teaspoon channa dhal
1 tsp cumin seed
2 tsp salt
1 tsp mango powder
1 tsp mustard seed
1/2 tsp fenugreek seed
2 tsp oil
2 red chillis
Add 1 tsp oil to pan get hot then add twice washed and dried leaves roast till they are brittle
remove and set aside
Add 1 tsp oil to same pan and roast the channa dahl until they turn light brown add other seeds and fry lightly not burning and stirring add chillis last
put leaves salt mango powder and all the items in blender and grind
store in dark glass container and use when needed
This can be used in base or as you cook your meal or in dahls etc
It has a nice Bir aroma and I keep sniffing it as its very aromatic
I hope someone tries this. and please let me know the results as stated Very Bir ;D

Might give it ago as I have a 500g jar of curry leaves and an unopened packet of mango seed powder not doin nothing; but not an earthly what to do with the resultant (no doubt quality) mix!!! :) Cheers chef.

I've used curry leaves in the past, fresh not dried, and they add nothing to a BIR flavour that I can detect. That and the fact that I've never seen any BIR recipe (base or curry) that uses them would suggest they're not going to be a magic ingredient for that BIR taste.

Interesting Noble Ox.
We used to buy "Priya' brand curry leaf powder and add a pinch towards the end of cooking non creamy curries, as you would add garam masala. Personally I thought it added a little something extra.

SS
Not a claim for a magic ingredient but very Birish aroma
How you can judge without trying is amazing

I know an Aussie guy he has a lisp

Was he a British Indian Aussie MA?
-
Just curious
Has any one tried this yet ? Or is it too complicated ? A little feedback could be useful ;)
-
Nope, not tried here, Sir Bovine -- I have none, and am not minded to get some just to experiment ... Maybe if I see some when I am out shopping for spices I /really/ need I will get some in, but I'm certainly not going to make a special trip for it.

So very wrong why post a silly remark
-
Well Noble OX - put your neck back in - I DONT make silly remarks to anyone
I quickly read your ingredient list and saw the oil - which now that you have brought it to my attention yet again - i see you are just frying the leaves - prior to adding the whole list of other ingredients to make curry leaf powder.
I will make up some in the next week to give it a go - it looks like a good list for samosa's
best, Rich

Curry leaf powder goes well in dhansak too.
I see no bollox has managed to cause an argument in his first day back. Outstanding work and true to form.

Love it spicy If I was giving a paste recipe it would have had the word PASTE in it
your comment was unjustified
Rudeness usually follows as demonstrated by you and your toxic worshippers

Most readers understand you're our resident nut job and were delighted when you promised to stop posting - a promise you've now broken. Why not go back to posting on the "demagogue's" site, as you seem to delight in conflict. This place has been peaceful until you popped up again.
Picking on Rich is a bad idea since he's always distinguished himself on this forum with impeccable gentlemanly behaviour, but logic never was your strong suit , was it nobby?
