Title: My local curry house burned down!
Post by: Touchwood on May 12, 2014, 07:50 PM
Hi all - the subject is somewhat of an exaggeration to catch attention - truth is they had a kitchen fire and have had to close for a while, which is what prompted me to do what I've been planning to do and google "Indian restaurant style curry" - which is how I got here.

I've been a curry lover all my adult life, being introduced to it long before there were any Indian restaurants around (in my neck of the woods at least) Mum & Dad ran a guest house and had as guests four Indian engineers over in the UK to study - Mum introduced them to poached eggs (which they loved) and they introduced us to curry, cooked by them for us - no idea where they got the ingredients from, I was only in my early teens so a long time ago!

I used to cook my own curries, and pretty good they were too (apart from once using processed peas in a pea pilau - tasted OK, but looked very strange) but haven't done so in years - looking forward to finding some good recipes on here and getting my hand back in.

Touchwood I'm a bit concerned, given your name, to hear that your TA has burned down  :-\
