Title: Loknai Gosht
Post by: Lakram on March 23, 2014, 05:40 PM
A relatively new restaurant in Houghton-Le-Spring (The Vermillion) has a lamb dish on the menu called Loknai Gosht. It describes it as containing tomatoes and tamarind, which is definitely the case and it suggests the lamb is cooked 'Loknai style'.
It's a great dish and fast becoming a favourite of mine, but I cannot find any recipe or even a reference to Loknai style or Loknai Gosht.
Google shows a few restaurants around UK that also have it on the menu, but what is it and how do I make it myself?

I haven't heard of that dish Lakram but there is likely to be others that have.

My first thought was that it might be a Lucknow dish but their style is more creamy and tamarind would definitely be off track so I've no idea.

I thought the same as SS, but a quick Google search reveals that Loknai gosht is a well-attested dish in its own right.
