Hey Guys,
Since i started making BIR curries, i've put on about 2 stone. I'm now on the atkins diet trying to burn it off. ::) I'm just wondering if any of you have experimented with low carb curries. I'd like to make a stab at something that tastes good but is acceptable on this diet. Any ideas you guys could give me?
Cheers!

I've heard others suggest this book but I can't vouch for it as I like my curries full fat!

Can't you just eat the curry without rice or bread?

Nothing wrong with full fat.

The first 6 months of this year I was eating mostly curry recipes from this website with no junk food inbetween. Week on week I was losing weight. As for rice, very starchy and advice would say avoid it in large quantities if you were practicing low carb diet. That said, it all depends on how tolerant you are to rice in terms of weight gain. The Chinese, Japanese and Indians seem to be tolerant to it as their weight was unaffected at least before the western diet started to take hold.

There's nothing wrong with any food in moderation. It amuses me how often people try to take a simplistic view of labelling some foods "bad" to be avoided at all costs and others "good". Just eat a balanced diet and enjoy everything in moderation !

I agree Natt, portion control is the way to go, :)

When I eat Indian food I don't control portions. But then, I don't eat it every night. I've been to two rice eating countries; China and Thailand. They ate it with almost every meal and there were few fat people around. Although I believe that's changing now with the introduction of McDonald's, Burger King and Pizza outlets and KFC to their countries.
