Hi all, I've just joined as I enjoy making my curries from scratch.

Just bought a cast iron karahi and am seasoning it at the moment.  I've burned in some oil and the supplier (The Asian Cookshop) says you do it 6 times.

I've noticed that when I apply the oil with a cloth it is black when I've finished although on first cleaning with a seperate cloth in hot water before seasoning it was completely clean

What is the black residue on the cloth?  Am I OK eating out of my karahi?

yes you are OK - keep at it - the black stuff will disappear after a few goes.

Hi Stephen, thanks!  I guess it just needs using.

Tried it last night with a channa - mega!!  :)
