Title: Tamarind Dip
Post by: vindapoo on May 27, 2013, 10:16 AM
Only ever had this once at The Raj Naga in Birmingham 10 years ago. It was the consistency of water, black, sweet with a hint of sour but only a hint. No heat at all. It was served with the pops and onions.

Anyone had anything similar ? Never seen it since and suddenly woke up with a craving for it!

Sounds like the tamarind water used in chaats. Delicious!!
Look for recipes for Pani Puri.  ;)

In fact, why dont you go to your local Indian supermarket/sweet centre and buy a bag of golgappas, make up some channa or Indian style potato salsa and some tamarind water...  8)
You can buy a ready mix too if you dont want to make up your own spiced water.

Its hard to stop eating them once that first one explodes into your mouth! So much flavour.  ;D
