Question:
Which base should I try for a Curry Dinner Party?
Option 1: CBM Little India
Option 2: Chewytikka
Option 3: Zaal Base
Option 4: Abdul Mohed
Option 5: ifindforu
Hi All,
I've had to put my curry cooking on the back burner for a while, but I find myself hosting a dinner party on the weekend, and thought it was prime time to show off the BIR curry skills.
Recently I've been using Chewy's base, but I'm out.
I always like to experiment, so I thought I'd look at a few others. Appreciate experienced members votes on a base to try for the event.
Thanks all for your input! I will report back with pics.
Cheers,
Josh
Good luck Josh,
Personally I don't think you can go far wrong with Chewy or CA's bases.
Look forward to hearing how it all went, and don't forget to snap a few photo's.
Good luck with the dinner party Josh. No disrespect to any of the other bases listed. I have made them all on at least one occasion, producing good results. But IMHO, i'm slightly biased as i believe my best results have been obtained with the Zaal base. However, i want to try the little india base as there have been some very positive comments and jb states that it is very very similar to the base that one of our local BIR's actually use.
Thanks guys - and Aussie Mick, I know CT and CA's bases work great. I just thought I'd test the waters to see what other experienced members have currently landed on, as I do enjoy mixing it up and trying different approaches.

Zaal, CT or CA for me - currently on Zaal - they all work very well. :)
CA did not work for me.. May have been an off day ;)
Go for Ct or C 2G
Hi Josh, have you ever tried the ABC/Kushi recipes? I know it's balti based but it makes for some tasty curries. I've always been very pleased with the results and think it would be perfect for a dinner party where people have varied tastes. :)
I would recommend taz base. It's been the best I've used so far, but I reckon I may not have tested all the ones in your list.
Could someone confirm if CBM's little india is the same in CBM's book? If so I found it to be similar in flavour and smell to Julian's C2G base, but I wasn't very successful with those. I don't think I was able to get the flavours well out of it and I would probably not hesitate in suggesting the culprit to be mea culpa!

Thanks CH, sadly this video doesn't play :-( I'll ask CBM if he keeps the video elsewhere
Weird. Seeing as the CBM Little India received a number of votes, I checked out the video. Worked fine for me...
Ok - it's time to make my base for tomorrow.
CT had the most votes, but I'm going to try the Little India to mix it up. Peeling onions now.
Thanks all!
Will report back with pics

Good luck Josh. I doubt that you'll be disappointed. Look forward to the feedback :)
