Off this weekend to watch the boys at Welford Road, the difference being that we are going to stop over night. I would appreciate any recommendations re a good curry house around Leicester Station area. London Road, Granby Road? I have booked The Curry House on the limited research I have had a chance to make but suggestions welcome.
Thank you ( hopefully in advance )

There's a place i used to always go just around the corner from The Musician, which is about 5-10 mins walk from the station.
Not Indian or BIR, but good simple food and VERY cheap! It's a Kurdish restaurant called Sara on Humberstone Road
Everytime i've sat in there, i've always been the only non muslim. ;)
Never felt intimidated and nobody stares at you. Well worth a visit for a good lunch.
Cheers, Frank. :)

Thank you Frank but rules are rules and Mrs Doo will settle for nothing less than the full Indian after an afternoon of Guinness ( me ) over priced vino tinto ( her ) and raw thigh expansion ( theirs not mine ).
Will not ( do not have to ) stray too far as heading back to the Smoke next day but would like to squeeze in a decent meal.

Only had one curry in Leicester late last year. Wasn't great; waffle here:

Leicester apparently has some top BIRs though. Let us know how it goes Ruby.

That review was really well written, your writing style is really good and I admire your ability to keep your cool even at the face of a rubbish job.
However, it appears RubyDoo is looking for a restaurant around the London (Leceister station) not midlands :)
Scratch that. I am confused. it's actually leicester midlands, apologies, I just saw "the curry house" is in the "london road" in leceister, which obviously only added to my confusion! :(

Job done. We went to The Curry House in London Road, Leicester. 2 minute walk from the main station on the left. Had a 6 pm table. Thought it would be packed after the rugby but how wrong could I be? Went 5 handed. In brief, not EXTRA special but on the better side of average. Noted especially that keema was brown and CTM not red = no over use of artificial colour. We forwent the starters. Not our choice, cheapskate family company that we did not want to put on the spot. A mix of Madras, CTM, Bhuna, and Karai with breads and assorted rice hit the spot to the tune of

Update - going again for Sunday's premiership game. Booked the Curry House again but just me 'n 'er. Will explore the menu more intensively this time and report back.
edit - apologies. noticed that this was started in the wrong place originally. Not usre how that happened but perhaps it could be moved.

On my trails around the UK over the years visiting the Indian areas, I found Leicester to be the busiest and had the most Asian shops to while away the hours. :D
Glasgow was Poor! as were the curries!! ::)
I just think i've been very lucky and spoilt to have grown up near Tooting. 8)

Silly thing for me is that I worked in Tooting ( near Amen Corner ) for a goodly while but never explored the shops or restaurants. Doh !! missed opportunity. Spent a few months in Glasgow too once - never again ( not only the 'curry' ) but 'Burgh' was much better up there.
