Hi all i tried making tikka masala it turned out not to bad but the tikka colour was not good. I got some natural food colouring from morrisons and when i add the colouring it went pink, so could any body help me find some good food colouring names.

Was it the liquid kind flashy?
If so that's your problem use the powdered kind try to get them from an asian store if possible, will pay less than from a supermarket.
I use the HTC brand.

And these are what I use : the tubs are synthetic powders from my (almost) local Gurkha shop, the central box all natural from Waitrose. The latter are rubbish, IMHO.

The Preema one's aren't very good always use the HTC Brand now

I have Preema , HTC and TRS. No difference at all. My money is it is exactly the same stuff with different label. ;)

As long it's powder and from an Asian type store I don't think the brand is important :)

Tried 4-5 different food colouring brands and for some unknown reason my other half doesn't have a reaction to is the HTC brand all the other brands brings her out in a blotchy type rash, short of breath and sweating.
It wasn't an invite for a slanging match.
If you are happy with that brand, ok, fair enough.
There are different kinds of ingredients that make the food colouring, i am no expert on food colouring but you have to be very careful with some types, for instance some say "May have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children".
All i was trying to say is that the HTC is the only one that seems to be fine without the allergic reaction my other half gets.

Preema yellow : Salt, E102, E110
Preema green : Salt, E102, E133.
What are the ingredients of your preferred HTC, Uncle Frank ?

Never thought, assumed or interpreted this as an invite for a slanging match. Not sure where that came from. Enough of that rubbish elsewhere on the forum and which I have purposely stayed away from. ;)
Are you sure it is the colour that does this to her and not something else in the meal she was allergic to? Just a thought.. ;). I suppose the children thing is the e nos etc.
