Not exactly festive but seeing me and the other half are not on good terms at the minute I only had myself to worry about this Xmas...
I treated myself to this for today's dinner and thoroughly lovely it was too.
It was Mickthebass Chicken Tikka in with Chewytikkas base and mix and Madras.
I added some precooked onions and peppers, some ahmed chilli pickle and a mild sliced chilli.
I also threw in a pod of crushed cardomon seeds.
The rice was cooked via c2go pressure cooker method but with Chewys tip of Shan pilau Biryani mix.
It may of turned into a Jalfrazi at some point?
Probably one of the better ones I have made.
I'll pop around her's and pick my Christmas dinner up tomorrow so everyones a winner. ;)
Thanks to all for me getting this far... Happy Christmas.

Nice one tommy, looks tasty.
-
good to see that curries still reign on Christmas day!
-
Yes, unashamedly so... I also added a tsp of mango chutney in the cooking process.
I best add that I only added about a tsp of the biryany mix as I can find this type of rice can be over powering for me but I do love it just a tad in the background.
I realise Chewy also uses a pressure cooking style rice but I done Julian's version as it's what I'm familier with.

looks great Tommy

Lucky man, I should have joined you but a bit far. Hope you don't mind me turning this into a "continuing" thread :) - I had all sorts planned for Xmas dinner including Parathas, Butter Chicken, Chole (chickpeas) etc but was facing a general revolt and uprising :(
So the final dinner Consisted of Prawn Cocktails with Avocado, Eggs Mimosa, Coca Cola chicken wings, garlic bread - but I did manage to sneak in one treat from the Sub Continent - Cardmom flavoured Halava with custard, which received rave reviews. All up we consumed enough butter yesterday to keep the local Emergency Department busy for a month.
Hereabouts it's around 30? so not really roast turkey territory although some families persevere.
Hope everybody had a safe and not too inebriate day and feeling ok this morning.

Great looking curry tommy! On my own over Christmas as well. Yesterday I had a chicken tikka (blades) starter, served sizzler, followed by a chicken karachi balti (and pilau) bought in special and defrosted for the day. Also did a saag bhaji (salvadors recipe) which has to be the prettiest veg side dish ever, and one of the tastiest. No overcooked soggy sprouts for me. The day wasnt completely without seasonal faire though, as the dog got turkey and veg cesar.

Rob that did make me smile :-)
Beachbum, i have done Cantonese soy sauce chicken wings a few times but we all ended up with
very dark teeth :-) (i think i overdone it with the dark soy sauce) but the taste was lovely
far better than any jar sauce you could buy.

Hi Graeme. I've just been looking at some Cantonese soy wing recipes just because your description of dark teeth intrigued me. I'm glad I did because it's the first time I've come across braised (i.e. simmered in broth) wings. I must admit I would never have tried something like this because I wouldn't imagine braised chicken skin would be very nice. Is this the way you do your wings?

i hope things work out for you tommy, all the best.
