Apologies for the delay in this test but hopefully this will be complete in the next few weeks.

Solarsplace has kindly agreed to step in for PeterandJen who is likely to be away for most of the month so unfortunately is unable to take part.

Fi5h has already completed all of his with some interesting results.

Myself, Razor and Axe will get ours done as quickly as possible. I've got all the ingredients on order which will hopefully arrive tomorrow in time for a weekend Tikka-fest.

I've got mine marinading ready for a taste test tomorrow. They are 6 very different recipes and I'm looking forward to trying them all. I've got my new big skewers ready to rumble.

I timed each one which I'll use to base the 'ease to make' score. The ones that needed extra blending or grinding will also lose 'ease' points. Texture wise I imagine they should all be identical.

Left to right: Maddhur, CA, Dipuraja, Lasan, Kushi and Blade.

I just finished my taste test of all 6 and I must say the standard was very high. 3 of them are easily as good as you get in a BIR.

Hi Chris/Solarspace,

Quick observation;

One of your's SP is very vivid red where none of yours Chris, are? Have you just left out the food colouring Chris, and if so, for what reason?

Gazman - you'll have to wait until I have everyones results in. I don't want my thoughts to influence other testers scoring.

Razor - I went easy on the food colouring. Only two recipes wanted it, one was optional, the other wanted orange which I didnt have. There is no score for appearence so it won't have affected the results either way. The vivid red one does look good though doesn't it!

Hi Razor

With the Tikka I have done so far, I made cut down versions of either 1/2 or 1/3 of the original quantities - whatever divided the most easily. I checked and treble checked the ingredients and quantities I used and and confident they were made to specification.

If one reviews the notes section in Dip's recipe (https://curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=4432.0) he specified red colour for tandoori and yellow for tikka - I used red as the yellow ran out and I knew it would not affect the taste. However people often east with their eyes and I wanted to give the tikka a good colour.

Solarsplace they all look quite edible. I notice you cooked them in chunks rather than half a fillet. I know that now most BIRs cook the half fillet method but in the past I used to get the chunks like you made. You can tell because the marinade is all over in the chunk method.

I was really annoyed the first time I got tikka by the fillet method as it had two unmarinated sides. Just one more cost cutting BIR trick I suppose.
