Which base please???
« on: August 20, 2013, 08:37 PM »
Hello.

Please can someone advise me which base is best to make an assortment of different curries? A sauce that suits most curries. Ideally need a good one. I know it sounds a daft question but I am not too experienced at curries, I have only used CA's base sauce before. It was good, I'm just interested in trying another one.

Thanks.
Johnny.

Taz's base is well recognised for good results and easy to make.

CA's base is very good as a mild base which can be adapted to any curry recipe. There are many more base recipes available here - I currently use the Zaal base myself. But without knowing what it is that you require from a base, it's virtually impossible to make any sensible recommendation.

What is is that you don't like about the CA base?

I don't think he mention that, I think he just wants to try a different base. I've tried Dips, base followed by 2 batches of CA's. Then i've just finished BB1's glasgow base and am going to have a go at Chewy's base next.

Thankyou all. Nothing wrong with CA's base, I just feel a bit boring by not using another base.

Johnny

I know I'm biased but I've stuck with Taz base now for a couple of years - the technique is slightly different so it may help rejuvenate your interest?

Tried Taz, tried CA, went back to my first love of KD1.  Still love it, never fails to please.
