AI Summary
The discussion centers around the choice of vegetable oil brands for cooking, particularly in Indian cuisine. While some users advocate for specific brands like Pride and KTC, citing their suitability for Indian cooking, others believe that the brand does not significantly impact the cooking results and prefer using supermarket own brands. The consensus leans towards the idea that while certain brands may be favored, many users feel that the type of food cooked is more important than the brand of oil used.

Vegetable Oil
« on: December 08, 2010, 10:39 PM »
Hi all

Just a quick question about what brands of vegetable oil people on here are using when cooking. I use Pride vegetable oil but off the top of my head I've seen takeaways use Olympus vegetable oil also KTC, i feel these brands are better for Indian cooking and I'd just like to know what other people's take on this is.

Cheers...

Asda's own brand, I personally don't really believe it matters which brand is used.

I used too use Crisp&Dry and found a notable difference when i switched to the Pride brand and because these brands also make Ghee i feel they are made for Indian cooking.

I bought a massive box of KTC. It's cheap and used in a lot of BIR's.

I just use supermarket "own brand" veg oil. I don't think different brands would make much difference - it's what gets cooked in it that counts :)
