Another place on my must try list. Needed a couple of goes at this video. The reviewer chap has a very healthy appetite. There are some nice close-ups of the food. The platter starter looks the part. At 9:27 there is a quick look inside the kitchen, which is interesting. He has other videos reviewing Al Frash and Shababs.

It seems Al Faisals nowadays is a highly rated desi-style eatery; not a lot of balti on the menu. There are a couple of youtube vids showing their open kitchen. Pan cooking, no balti bowls, no base gravy. Reckon they will be using pre-cooks, with addition spicing at the pan stage. The vids show the chef with just two liquids going in. One looks like seasoned oil. Not sure about the other. Could be water. Must go there at some point though. Came out 10/10 in the link I posted earlier. Compared to 9 1/2/10 for Shababs and I think 8/10 for Al Frash. Obviously very subjective. The reviewer did another vid summarizing his Balti Triangle competition. I will find the link for it. Turns out he knocked 1/2 point off Shababs because the prawns in the Balti King Prawn main were "rock hard"! Reckon I'd be marking the dish down a bit more for that.
Whilst searching around the forum for more info found myself in the three baltis thread, after I went AWOL. Around 2015. Loads of interesting things including Gav iston at Al Faisals, and binning his balti
.
Chewytikka syringing some of the oil off the curry. Now there's an idea, I have a 100 ml syringe somewhere.
