Latest effort.

Chicken Shatkora



Warmed up in the oven







Very pleased.  Cook4one recipe pretty much to spec, including C41 mix powder (except with c2go base and pre-cooked chicken).  Frozen shatkora  (Taz) and went for the jaggery option.  Bang on recipe me thinks.  Good to have an exact amount of shatkora to use as these fruits are mighty zesty.  Will be making this one again.

OMG! That looks so absolutely tasty. I was dying to find out what was the curry that I was having a lot lately before I moved back to Dublin. This is it... and it looks exactly like my BIR.

The dogs doodies great pics - love the look of it - I have been trying to locate shatkora fruit out here in Thailand and the Thais have a smaller version of it. Might be making this for dinner one night this week

I know what Shatkora is but those three words together mean nothing to me!  :o

Hi, yes sorry; not very clear there.  The recipe gives details for using/preparing fresh or frozen shatkora.  I used frozen.  Couldn?t find any fresh. Picked up 2 bags. Taz and Ibco brands.  Just noticed I actually used the Ibco. Appeared less pithy.

Looking good Rob ;)

I use frozen Shatkora (Ibco) and is much better and more consistent than fresh.

They don't precook it in BIR, just diced small and cooked with the service onions when creating the masala.

Shatkora is unique to Sylhet, Bangladesh.(There is no substitute)
You won't find this on the menu in Pakistani run BIR's. So it would be a new experience for our Scottish members.

It's the wide pith and zest that's important, not the fruit or juice, which there is very little, unlike other citrus fruits.

The Satkora pickle (Pran) is also really good in my Achari recipe

Thanks for the comments all.  Good tips from Chewy.   Well worth trying a shatkora; it is very different and super tasty.  Not overly expensive either; paid ?1.50 each for the bags in the pic.  Also picked up the pran pickle Chewy.  Lovely stuff!
